When I was little, I had always heard that the pen was mightier than the sword. I’m a bit ashamed to admit that I wasn’t quite certain what that meant when I first heard it. Over time, I came to realize that words were a very powerful thing. Something so simple as a word could take you to a whole different place. They could hurt, they could heal, they could be so much more than letters on a page. So, when I decided to start blogging, I wanted to take that old adage and combine it with something so iconic to me about fantasy heroes, specifically the traditional fantasy knight and how they always seemed to be armed: with a sword and shield.
If you’re looking for an MMO blog full of theorycrafting, dungeon guides, or gold-making guides, you’re looking in the wrong place. These may pop up from time to time (well, maybe not the theorycrafting; math and your author don’t really get along), but they have never been this blog’s main focus. Pen and Shield has, and always will be, about roleplaying first. All that other stuff comes second.
